Responsibilities

The Senior Vice President of Development plays a key strategic role with responsibility for the direct management of development activities within the sbe portfolio. The objective of this role is to deliver on the sbe strategic growth plans by negotiating and managing the execution of new construction and portfolio opportunities.


Responsibilities:

  • Lead design of sbe’s development strategy, in line with corporate strategic objectives, sbe’s brand/s propositions & risk management policies. Focus efforts on markets and partnerships that can maximize sbe’s profitability and brand proposition while minimizing risk exposure.
  • Identifying and qualifying opportunities that are accretive to the portfolio through a variety of sources. These include but are not limited to ownership companies, brokers, real estate developers, lenders, internal and induced lead generation, and “off-market” sources. 
  • Lead implementation of a robust financial assessment model for deals, based on rigorous analytics, a strong understanding of local cost-bases and realistic risk indicators, to evaluate deal profitability and to model profitable operating scenarios.
  • Lead negotiations of agreements and coordinate contracts with owners/owner representatives. 
  • Pursuit of management deals for new locations
  • Collaborate with senior management and supporting constituents to ensure that negotiations are aligned with sbe ‘s development strategy, growth, risk and financial objectives.
  • Participate, as a member of the leadership team, in the development and refinement of sbe’s overall vision and development strategy.
  • Develop and maintain extensive database and working relationships with potential owners, capital sources, and other hospitality industry influencers.
  • Monitor and remain current on significant industry and competitor developments/initiatives.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of major purchase/sale transactions, activities of debt and equity, providers and other hospitality related trends.
  • Lead preparation, consolidation and monitoring of sbe’s development function budget.
  • As needed, assist other members of development team on special projects. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree
  • 10 + years of relevant experience in the hospitality industry with a focus on hotel investment, management and brand contract development
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Effective Presentation Skills
  • Excellent judgment in evaluating opportunities for the company
  • Commercial Real Estate Understanding
  • Extensive experience with feasibility and investment analysis
  • Willing to travel
