    Bazaar Mar by José Andrés, is a ground-breaking new experience that lights up downtown Miami with a vibrant mix of sophisticated cuisine, playful indoor and outdoor lounge spaces. Highlights include sea snacks, an extensive raw bar, whole fish, Bazaar classics and carefully curated wines list in Philippe Starck's strikingly setting that transcends an ordinary event into a fête extraordinaire.


    The Pastry Cook is responsible for production, preparation, and presentation of desserts and pastries for The Bazaar, while maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment. The ideal candidate must be innovative, creative, detail-oriented, and a multi-tasker with good communication and interpersonal relationship skills.

    Responsibilities

    • Creates, prepares, produces, and bakes all breakfast pastries, breads, rolls and desserts for restaurants and banquets. Decorates pastries/cakes with creativity and skill.
    • Maintains adequate supply of all prepared products on hand and ensures the proper storage and refrigeration of same.
    • Ensures spoilage/waste is kept to a minimum by ordering and utilizing proper quantities and rotating products. Develop new products for a la carte and catering menus on a rotating basis.
    • Lines up baked products in mobile carts according to the needs of the particular outlet/function.
    • Set daily pars on all products to ensure freshness.
    • Assists in the professional development of apprentices and bakers
    • Assists with preparation/cooking in other stations as requested.

    • Keeps work station neat and orderly - "clean as you go".

    • Assist with special duties or special orders or products whenever possible.
     

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION:

    High School graduate or equivalent preferred. Advance degree or specialized training highly desirable.

     

    LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES:

    Bakery certificate or apprenticeship helpful.

    Food Handlers Certification 

     

    EXPERIENCE:

    At least one year pastry/baking experience.

    Must be able to work in a fast pace and high-volume environment

    Must be able observant and quick to respond to various situations and requests while also multitasking and handling stressful   situations.

    Excellent communication skills and be able to read, write, speak and understand English is a must.
