The Security Officer is responsible for performing protective and enforcement functions to maintain a safe and secure environment for hotel guests, visitors, and employees.


Examples of Duties (includes but is not limited to the following):
  • Respond quickly to emergencies, disturbances, undesired conduct, and threats to life and property. 
  • Respond to assigned calls and initiate necessary reports and/or corrective action.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. 
  • This position is responsible for safeguarding property that belongs to the hotel, associates and guest.
  • Makes scheduled rounds both inside and outside the buildings to maintain a secure environment for residents and their property as well as company property.
  • Responds to all fire alarms and emergency calls.
  • Continuous patrols of property and facilities.
  • Ensure the logging of visitors, residents, guests, vendors, etc. and directs traffic on  property.
  • Completes daily rounds reports.
  • Completes incidents reports (regarding workers compensation, medical response calls, theft of property, Accidents, fires, serious mechanical malfunctions, emergency response, and violations of rules and regulations)


High school education or equivalent.
State of Florida (Class D) Security License. CPR certification and first-aid training.
  • Minimum of 1 year security experience in a luxury resort environment or residential building preferred.
  • Military or law enforcement background preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with guest, management, and staff. 
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English. 
  • Knowledge, understanding, and compliance of policies and procedures, job descriptions, daily memorandums, chemical labels, and other instructions.
Typical Physical/Mental Demands:
  • Requires mobility. Requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and kneeling. 
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders at a rapid pace. 
  • Ability to grasp, lift, and/or carry or otherwise move goods weighing a maximum of 150 pounds. 
  • Eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity. 
  • Ability to distinguish letters, symbols, and colors. 
  • Normal vision and hearing range.



Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.


Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required.


Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with sbe rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the hotel’s facilities. Employees who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
