Bazaar Mar by José Andrés, is a ground-breaking new experience that lights up downtown Miami with a vibrant mix of sophisticated cuisine, playful indoor and outdoor lounge spaces. Highlights include sea snacks, an extensive raw bar, whole fish, Bazaar classics and carefully curated wines list in Philippe Starck's strikingly setting that transcends an ordinary event into a fête extraordinaire.

The Food Runner will be responsible for delivering food to restaurant guests. Food Runners will be responsible for learning all menu items and know what each dish looks like to ensure that they are delivering the proper meal items to the correct guest. It's also important that the plates are handled carefully and brought out in a timely manner, to ensure optimal food temperature.

 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
GUEST RELATIONS:
  • Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests
  • Greet guests in a positive, friendly manner and make them feel welcome
  • Maintain the safety and security of the restaurant/bar premises as a priority
  • Provide friendly, courteous and professional service at all times
  • Recognize guests, remember the names of the regulars and be in constant communication with managers and reception about the satisfaction of our  guests
 
DAILY DUTIES:
  • Perform all assigned duties as detailed in your opening, afternoon and closing checklists
  • Attend pre-shift briefings and any scheduled meetings as directed by management
  • Be familiar with the guests on the reservation’s list, especially guests regarded as VIP and our regular guests’ requests/preferences
  • Perform daily cleaning jobs assigned to you in a thorough and timely manner
  • Ensure that all the necessary stock is being replenished during the shift
  • Set tables in good time and to specified standard
  • Clean the tools and work surfaces you use (black cloths, sinks, shelves, and surfaces, cupboards, etc.) throughout your shift as needed
  • Clean and dry spillages, following our standards, immediately upon occurrence; never leave spills unattended 
  • Move furniture as directed by management, including but not limited to tables, chairs, bar stools, bar tables, boxes, equipment, etc.
  • Ensure that any breakage is reported and recorded at the end of every shift using the breakage form provided
  • Run food to the correct section as it comes from the kitchen; alert the server so that they can serve the food to the table
  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of all menus from the engineering of the menu, to the ingredients, cooking methods and the adaptability of each item on the menu
  • Assist servers in clearing the tables when you are coming back from running the food to tables or whenever a server asks for assistance
  • Ensure all the food and drinks are served according to the Herringbone specifications, always use position numbers so that the guest is not disturbed unnecessarily
  • Prepare guests’ left overs in appropriate packaging
  • Work as a team, assist with all guests’ and employees’ needs and inquiries
  • Effectively communicate with management in order to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guests and or other employees
  • Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction
  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment
  • Replenish side stations with tablewares throughout shift
  • Maintain complete knowledge of proper table/tray set ups
  • Complete closing duties as assigned
  • Other related duties as necessary
  • Bid farewell to guests, using guests’ name when known, and encourage them to return
 
SIDEWORK DUTIES:
  • Opening & closing sideworks may include the followings:
  • Fold napkins to sbe specifications
  • Stock condiments and sauces in pass and replenish throughout service
  • Polish all silverware and glasses as directed by management
  • Stock up the restaurant’s side stations and expo line for the shift to specified par levels (glasses, cutlery, chinaware, condiments, napkins, tea cups, tea pots, sugar bowls, black cloths, trays, etc.); make sure all equipment is clean and in good condition and continue replenishing stock throughout your shift
  • Clean tables, chairs, banquettes, restaurant floors, walls, woodwork, furniture, shelves, inside and outside of side stations and any other areas of the restaurant as specified on your checklists thoroughly and on a daily basis
 
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
  • Learn the menu and order of service
  • Maintain complete knowledge of all menus items including: engineering of the menu, to the ingredients, cooking methods and the adaptability of each item on the menu
  • Attend the training sessions and read training notes to improve your knowledge
  • Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards
  • Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately
  • Maintain complete knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, proper table set ups, room capacity, hours of operations, menus, price range and dress code of assigned outlet
  • Prepare any part of the restaurant for a special event, this may include carrying chairs, tables, decorations, materials and similar duties
  • Perform related duties as assigned

Qualifications

EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • 2 years of experience in fine dining establishment
  • Maintain a professional, neat and well-groomed appearance adhering to company standards
