We have an exciting job opportunity to join our team as the Director of Sales and Events, Umami Burger based in our corporate LA office.

  • Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics that inspire sales team to meet and exceed standards
  • Proven sales executive experience, meeting or exceeding past targets
  • Previous experience in private/special events sales within the hospitality sector
  • Experience with various concepts and venue types in hospitality (restaurants, bars, night- life, events-only spaces)
  • Strong network of corporate and social clientele
  • Proven ability to drive the sales process from plan to close
  • Demonstrate experience as head of sales, developing client-focused, differentiated and achievable solutions
  • Excellent listing, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Polished personal presentation
  • Develop annual sales targets and associated budgets in collaboration with COO
  • Develop and execute strategic plan to achieve sales targets and expand customer base
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships
  • Acquire new business; create cohesive departmental Marketing plan to achieve growth goals
  • Manage events-related collateral in collaboration with Marketing department to properly promote event offerings
  • Effectively communicate Umami event opportunities through proposals, presentations and other related resources
  • Manage technology solutions for Events Sales, continually evaluate alternative or improved technology solutions
  • Develop SOP’s for events sales cycle, from initial client inquiry through final client billing and follow-up
  • Maintain general knowledge of company history, culture, concepts, locations, and other distinguishing characteristics pertaining to events venues
  • Participate in community events and ensure corporate social responsibility goals of company are met
  • Participate in professional education opportunities to continually expand own expertise and knowledge
  • Participate in professional networks and groups to enrich professional connections


  • Fluent in both written and spoken English
  • Able to work nights, weekends and holidays, and variable schedule, per the needs of the business
  • Ability to maintain professionalism when working under stress
  • Ability to sit at desk for extended periods
  • Ability to field client inquiries via email and phone for extended periods
  • Ability to travel to various LA-area venues, tour facilities with clients, and/or meet with clients at various locations
  • Must be a true believer in the Company and its product, and share your passion with the guests in a fun and playful way.

  • At least five years of events sales experience in the hospitality space
  • At least three years’ events sales experience in managerial role
  • Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint

  • Experience with Events Management technology
  • Basic knowledge of OpenTable
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s Degree; Hospitality or related field preferred
